Of all the wonderful things that summer brings………strawberries, peaches, cherries, suntans on faraway beaches, well-deserved vacations, going barefoot, observing the hummingbirds, kids running through sprinklers, screendoors slamming, clothes drying on the outdoor clothesline, neighbors walking hand-in-hand at dusk, driving that sexy convertible with the top down, grilling outdoors, practicing your swan dive at the local pool, painting the fence, greeting the sunrise with that first cup of coffee, riding your bike to the farmer’s market, I think my favorite thing about summer is……………

YOU CAN NEVER HAVE TOO MUCH CHOCOLAT!

Hand in hand with my little Princess au Chocolat, we strolled down the Champs Elysee in search of……more chocolat.

After climbing to the top of the Arc de Triomphe (160 ft. high is what they say….but they’re wrong….certainly it’s 10 times that because at least one of us was huffing and puffing) the view from up there is spectacular.  So it’s worth the effort to make the climb.

After climbing the 10,000 ft. 160 ft. we were ready for a bit of a break.

We just happened to wander into a petite cafe where….you guessed it…..the plat du jour included the perfect pick-me-up for my little Marie Antoinette.

A Short Train Ride Away From Paris…..

A Day For Bike Riding

SASSY SWANS

Along the way we stopped for le Picnique and didn’t realize that the beautiful swans had already reserved the very same picnique area for their private affaire.  After some diplomatic negotiations, and sharing our bounty of bread and cheese, we all agreed to share the space temporarily.

We continued on along a beautiful path in Giverny to the home of Claude Monet.

The photos cannot do it justice.  Le fleur, especially the lavender, put a spell on me.  Or was it the long bike ride?  Whatever…….I sat happily in Monet’s Garden feeling tres Francaise, but looking like the overheated Ugly American Tourist.

And the French?   They pretended not to notice.

Maiden Voyage

Chapter 1…..What’s a nice girl like you doing writing a blog? I’ve misplaced my soap-box and have so much to share, this seems a likely spot to begin.

As an incurable white-washer of furniture, and lover of all things white…….I’ve led a lonely existence .  Until now!Little did I know there were so many of you fellow paintbrush wielding souls out there in the blogosphere.   I am overjoyed!   To every one of you who has inspired me, I thank you.  I will now try to return the favor.   Along with this, my very first posting, I will attempt to share a few of my favorites…..ok maybe one to start.   More to come, I promise.
